Trauma Informed School

A Trauma Informed Approach

At Richmond Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, supported and able to achieve their very best. We recognise that children bring a wide range of experiences to school, and we are investing significantly in developing a trauma-informed approach that helps all pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

We are delighted to be working closely with the Local Authority and TISUK (Trauma Informed Schools UK) to further strengthen our practice and ensure that our approach is informed by the latest research and expertise. As part of this journey, we have invested in developing four Trauma-Informed Practitioners within the academy, including our Principal and a Trust Leader. This enables us to drive and embed best practice at classroom, academy and trust level, ensuring a consistent and sustainable approach for our children and families.

Our trauma-informed approach is rooted in strong relationships, nurture, belonging and high expectations. We believe that understanding children's needs helps us provide the right support at the right time, allowing every child to feel valued, confident and ready to learn.

This investment reflects our commitment to excellence for all. By developing outstanding practice across the academy, we are creating an environment where every child is understood, supported and empowered to be the very best they can be.
